Introduction
In advertisements there are always codes and conventions, codes used for symbolic purposes and codes for technical purposes.

Symbolic codes
- Location
Advert 1: The locations for the first advert are a few places, mostly places that are known for a date, the cinema, a theme park and a hillside. these places ground the advert in reality and also show how the car is capable of getting people to where they want to go.
Advert 2: The locations for the second advert, secondary locations are the house and outside the house, instantly we're introduced to the two characters and what style of friendship they have, friendship as brothers. the locations go from the house to their local park. Here the younger brother gets bullied until his brother steps in and helps him out. In each location a coke bottle is present, showing having coke is okay anywhere you go.
-Costumes
In both adverts the characters are wearing standard clothing, jeans, shirts, jumpers and jackets. this just shows how real the people are in the advert.
-Colour
Advert 1: In the first advert the colours change for each location of the scene, when the characters are at the cinema the colours are dim and bleak, like a cinema setting. when the characters arrived to the theme park the colours are bright and eye catching.
Advert 2: In each scene a certain colour is prominent and that's the colour red. Red can symbolises a lot of things like danger, love, blood; but in this case it's for Coke, red can also be taken as their love for coke.
-Props
Advert 1: The main prop in the first advert is what is being advertised, the car. The adverts shows off the car's abilities, how it can be tracked and get drive fast, dropping of people in time, or arriving sooner.
Advert 2: The noticeable prop in this advert is the coke bottle, the item that's being advertised. the coke is there as, when the characters are having a break of relaxing, a coke is always near by.
Technical Codes
-Lighting
Advert 1: For the first advert the lighting is mid key for the cinema and the hillside but when the characters go to the theme ark, the lighting is high key. the scene being high-key suits the tone of the location.
Advert 2: In the second advert the lighting is a mix of low key to high key, the lighting changes as the advert goes along. when we're first introduced the to the characters the lighting is lowkey, showing how brothers will annoy one another. This matches them as their intentions towards each other are always to get to one another. At the end of the advert, where the older brothers helps the younger brother the lighting changes to high key, showing the happiness felt between there for a short moment.
-Camerawork
Advert 1: The camerawork for the first advert uses a lot of movements, when the father of the daughter; who's on a date. The camera will pan upwards and downwards whenever the boyfriend realises the father is watching them. The camera will pan of him to show where he is. A bird's eye view shot is used for when the boyfriend is driving home.
Advert 2: The camerawork for the second advert are usually zoom ins, panning. the camera will pan when the brother walks ahead and the camera, again; will pan upwards to show the brother's face; showing his reaction to his brother getting bullied. The zoom in is used on the coke bottle.
-Editing
Advert 1: For the first advert shot reverse shot editing is used for when every time the boyfriend will realises he's being watched by the father, the camera will cut back and forth between them both to show their reaction; the father will talk quietly while the boyfriend will react.
Advert 2: The editing for the second advert uses jump cuts. the jump cuts jump forward in time and in different places in time. The scene will show the brothers walking to school and then cut to the brothers at home, eating food with their family.
-Product Placement
In both adverts they are promoting a product. in the first advert the product is the new Hyundai car, in the second advert the product is Coco Cola.
